YAY! A new version!

Didn't quite like the first version. It didn't live up to my expectations, nor did it look anything like I had originally envisioned. This, I'm a lot happier with!

I put it under other, because I'm a little bit uncertain if it should be under "Macabre and Horror" or "Humour"... It's a little bit of both, eh?

Anyway, a lot grimmer, more morbid, more realistic and therefore more humourous! It also looks a lot more like my Puma, which was so good to pose for me. ;)

Might make this one into a print if I'm still happy with it in a few months time. ;)

What say you? Which is better? This one or my old version? Other version has been scrapped ;)

I definitely like the updated one more! It has more drama, suspense, and morbidity with the darker environment behind it. One note: gravity should be pulling the heel of the shoe down further instead of it being vertical like that. The strings are tied near the center of the shoe, not the very heel of it (if it was attached there yes it would be vertical), so the shoe would be more at an angle as it dangled.

Also think consciously about where the light is falling on that object. Why is there a sharp highlight near the heel but a thick black line is at the edge, where as below that you have the lighting properly hitting the edge of the shoe from the moonlight? Gotta watch out of that evil lighting ;) (me too, it never gives me a warning where it seems to fall apart). I think you can push this piece a little bit further. Making that shoe a bit more recognizable even with the faintest of details is possible, but you'd have to change it's direction and allow the moonlight to do the talking. Ultimately that choice is up to you though.

It's funny because this reminded me of a book I recently ordered off Amazon called Picture This: How pictures work by Molly Bang. In this book Molly explains how she sets up a story of Red Riding Hood by only using shapes and colors to represent characters and scenes. Nothing is complicated at all, and she talks about how moving things around can give illusions of depth and can change the mood of a scene drastically. I really recommend this book! Especially if you want to use simple designs and color to tell stories!

YAY! Extensive critique! YAY! :D

Thank you very much for you comment! :D

Actually, the sharp edge of what seems to be reflected light is actually the design of the shoe itself. The shoe has, for some reason, two white lines drawin up on each side of the heel. I never saw hoe it could look like light being reflected until now - I'm so used to the shoe itself!

But everything else I agree on. ;) I've made some changes now, but I'm not quite sure how to bring it further right now. Perhaps in a week or two I will be able to see it in a different light (perhaps in sunlight?).

How do you like it now?
