Time's Up

YAY! It's Death in all his Photoshopped glory!

Yesh! So the image that I've been working one for so very, very long is finally up! I hope it's up to your expectations!

What can I say? I've spent too many hours working on this, since was the first digital paintind I ever started doing. I really enjoyed working on it - one might say it worked a little bit as therapy for me, as events have left me a little bit changed.

Anyway, the obvious inspriation would be Death, the Grim Reaper, La Morte. My depiction of him is very much how I see him whenever reading any book upon the subject, though he's a slightly more realistic version than the Pratchett version in my head. As you can see he's (it's?) holding an hourglass. The concept behind this I've borrowed from Pratchett (who probably borrowed it from somewhere else) - it's a lifetimer. Everybody's got one and it tells Death how much time you have been given. When the sand runs out he comes for you and takes you to wherever you thought you would be going.

I've spent numerous hours on this - I can't honestly guess a number in fear for it being incorrect. It's taught me a great deal, about colours, about painting in Photoshop, shadows, light and reflection and it's given me a lot of inspiration to do some real painting.

Please tell me if the colours are off or anything. My screen is apparently very good compared to some others. I've tried editing it so that it will be viewable for you all. Let me know if it's not so that I can fix it.

Hopefully, if all goes as I wish, I will have a print up too!
